Celebrating Housekeeping Appreciation Week

This past year and a half, we have a lot of frontline workers to thank for holding down the fort which means it’s time to celebrate housekeeping appreciation week! There are many that received well-deserved recognition for their hard work to keep us safe, but there is one line of work that can often be overlooked. We want to give a huge thank you to those who maintain cleanliness every day for us to stay healthy. Especially our very own team.

“Our Housekeeping team is at the heart of what we do here at The Whaler’s Inn. They are responsible for building the foundation of our business and are an integral component in creating an exceptional experience for our guests. I am beyond proud of our team and am lucky to call them friends and colleagues. My deepest gratitude for the hard work and commitment to excellence that this team brings to the table today and every day!” -Amanda Arling, President

We are so proud of our housekeeping team here at The Whaler’s Inn and wanted to recognize all their efforts to keep us in tip-top shape. One of our utmost important goals is to ensure our guests have a healthy, safe, and fun stay during their time here in Mystic. This task would be difficult to reach without our wonderful team dedicated to accomplishing this.

Why We Celebrate Housekeeping Appreciation Week

“Housekeepers are the backbone of every hotel but even more so at The Whaler’s Inn. Our housekeeping team consistently goes above and beyond to ensure we have the cleanest rooms in the tri-state area and New England. I could not be prouder of a given team as they are all genuinely good people first and foremost, and truly care about making a great experience for our guests.” Dan Balceniuk, General Manager

These past few days, we celebrated House Keeping Appreciation Week. Our housekeeping’s dedication was honored with staff breakfasts, lunches, fun day sundaes, and a pizza day! This line of work can be grueling, we added in a day of pampering for some relaxation and self-care.

We also wanted to recognize Melanie Phillips for spearheading the team. She has been with the Inn for almost 2 decades, first as a Front Desk Associate, then Shift Supervisor, and now as the Manager of the Housekeeping and Laundry Departments.

Melanie brings out the best in her team and takes pride in ensuring that all guestrooms are spotless and comfortable. Under Melanie’s leadership, The Whaler’s Inn was designated “AAA’s Best of Housekeeping” in 2020, putting us in the top 25% of 27,000 annually inspected hotels. When not here at the Inn, she enjoys spending time with her family, especially, of course, her two lovely grandchildren!

“Here at The Whaler’s Inn, we have a fantastic team! Our housekeepers are a wonderful group of hardworking people making it a pleasure to work here!” -Melanie Phillips, Manager of the Housekeeping and Laundry Departments
